Huntsville earned the nickname "Rocket City" in the 1950s and 1960s based on the Army's missle and rocket development work and NASA's space exploration efforts and the Marshall Center.

Downtown Huntsville was the focal point for many celebrations related to space exploration in the 1960s.

Called commercial row in the 19th century because of all the small shops. H.C. Blake Company is still in business, Sandlin Hardware Store, not shown at the end of the street is Harrison Brothers Hardware Store and T.T. Terry was one of Huntsville's first Department stores, famous for their logo "Great is the Power of Cash".
