In this photograph dated June 1, 1966, Dr. Von Braun is shown seated at the controls of a Mobility Test Vehicle. The test was part of the concepts studies for developing a vehicle that astronauts could operate on the moon. Eventually, the Marshall Center developed the Lunar Roving Vehicle for that purpose, a concept that differed widely in appearance from the Mobility Test Vehicle.
